The Mexican rider Jaime Azcarraga was victorious with his eleven-year-old mare Verdinale (Verdi). Bart Clarys and El Cid (Caesar van de Helle x Lugano van la Roche) crossed the finish a faction of a second later and were placed second. Bas Moerings from the Netherlands closed the top three with the seven-year-old Hervesther (Elvis ter Putte x Guidam).
